Assistant Coaching Position – Waterborn Randburg

Waterborn Swimming CC is inviting candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Coach to Peter Williams. This is a full time coaching position.

Candidates will subject themselves to full training by Peter Williams, specifically during the first three months of employment. The successful applicant will preferably begin from 10th October 2011.

The position will entail:

• Working with swimmers of all CGA & National Levels, 0, 1, 2 ,3 and 4.
• Working with a combination of squads: Stroke Correction, Promising Juniors, Junior Age-Group, Level 3, and the Olympic Trials squad.
• Understanding the Waterborn squad system and coaching method.
• Working on a personal level with National Age-Group and Senior Champions.
• Directing coaching in the Director of Coaching’s absence.
• Assistance at local and national galas, and training camps when required. Candidates must be prepared to travel nationally.

• Maintaining team-member consistency by avoiding the high fallout ratio in swimming.
• Avoid pre-puberty overload training.
• Encouraging coaches and parents to expand their swimming and coaching knowledge.
• Understanding efficient movement in the water.
• Appropriate training loads with respect to the athlete's broader environment.
• Teaching best competitive attitude with regard to performance.
• Nurturing relationships amongst coaches and parents to form an effective management unit.
• The successful candidate must be able to build a positive rapport with swimmers, parents and other staff members.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have been a senior national / international swimmer.
• Minimum of 2 years coaching experience at SSA Level 3 and above.
• Registered coach with SSA.
• Current First Aid Level 1 / CPR and lifesaving certification through an accredited provider.
• Have good communication skills with swimmers, parents & the Waterborn Business Manager.
• Be computer literate.
• University exemption pass.

Salary package will be determined by experience and qualifications.
